Today is my first day in China! I have arrived from Pennsylvania, USA to Shijiazhuang, China. It was a long 13 hour direct flight from Newark, NJ airport to Beijing, China. I get to have this amazing experience along with 3 other of my classmates in Chinese; Alesandra Morales, Olivia Gibbs, and Elena Caputo. Afterwards we got picked up and taken on a bullet train to Shijiazhuang to meet our host families. In my first two weeks in China, I am staying will a lovely host family and a student from Shijiazhuang No. 1 High School named 赵韩思佳(Zhào hán sī jiā). My first official day, I went to school and met with the administrators, Dr. Lou & Mrs. Cheng. We took a small tour around the beautiful school, and it was huge! You could say it is as big as a small university campus, maybe even bigger. They even have a pond with koi fish in the lobby part of the school! Later on we had an opening ceremony in from of administrators and all the teachers in the Shijiazhuang school. We gave small introductions of ourselves along with saying 祝大家春节快乐(Zhù dàjiā chūnjié kuàilè)!Meaning “wishing everyone a happy spring festival” because we will have winter break for the Chinese New Year/Spring Festival. In the evening my host family and I went to dinner at a restaurant in a mall downtown. I got to talk more with my host family and student while eating delicious food! They explained to me that it is a common food in the Hebei province. It was chicken and vegetables wrapped in a thin pancake-tortilla like thing. Along with a tomato based soup and then watermelon for dessert. So far my first few days here have been wonderful and I am looking forward to experience and learn more of the Chinese language and culture!

Awesome!!! Looks fabulous!!! Enjoy your time. More pictures when you can. Wish I could read the Chinese😏😏
